Perhaps in understanding why such building were moved you should likely know more about the past of Whitby and her people. Why things were done as they were.
My family has been here generations and the history of this community goes back a very long way far before communities like Oshawa ever grew. The Queens Plate was run here also at the Ladies College and much much more.
