It’s Awards Season

Blog of the Year Award

A couple of weeks ago I was truly humbled to be awarded the Blog of the Year Award 2012, not just once, but twice. The best thing about this award, the brainchild of the undeniably talented artist Alyson Sheldrake (who blogs at The Thought Palette, Algarve Blog and runs A3 Art with her equally artistic husband Dave) is that it appeals to the hoarder in us all – Gollum-like, you can accumulate precious stars to fawn and fuss over, that reflect the blinding greatness of your blog: every time someone awards you, you gain another star! And look at me… already on two!

Huge thanks to both Alyson and Julie who blogs at Julie Dawn Fox, a window on Portugal brought to life by her captivating photos.

The ‘rules’ for the award are simple:

1 Select the blog(s) you think deserve the ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award

2 Write a blog post and tell us about the blog(s) you have chosen – there’s no minimum or maximum number of blogs required – and ‘present’ them with their award.

3 Please include a link back to this page ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award –http://thethoughtpalette.co.uk/our-awards/blog-of-the-year-2012-award/  and include these ‘rules’ in your post (please don’t alter the rules or the badges!)

4 Let the blog(s) you have chosen know that you have given them this award and share the ‘rules’ with them

5 You can now also join our Facebook page – click the link here ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/BlogoftheYear/ and then you can share your blog with an even wider audience

6 As a winner of the award – please add a link back to the blog that presented you with the award – and then proudly display the award on your blog and sidebar … and start collecting stars…

There are a total of 6 stars to collect.

The faces beyond the footlights

When it comes to a blog, it’s the readers that make it. The comments and conversations, reading and sharing encourage me to write with ever greater enthusiasm, passion and clarity. Over the course of fifteen months, Expatlogue has become a meeting-place for some wonderfully articulate, intelligent and loyal readers, many of whom are bloggers themselves. They’ve helped to shape and strengthen my writing with their encouragement and critique. I’d like to take this opportunity to show them my appreciation and also to mention some new discoveries. So here we go, in no particular order…

Crazy Train To Tinky Town – “the adventures of a single woman living in Altinktum, Turkey”

Petchary’s Blog – “Calling from Jamaica”

Lesism – “After decades of sleepwalking through life, I’ve finally woken up and realised the greatest dreams are achieved with open eyes and a conscious mind…”

Adventures in Expatland - “Living abroad and sharing the good, the less good and the just plain odd”

Mammasaurus – The brain behind LoveAllBlogs and mad genius of the blogosphere; energy & creativity personified

In search of a life less ordinary – “Adventures in making a home away from home”

Cheetahs In My Shoes - “Living with the imaginary menagerie and all that it entails”

Vegemitevix – “A Kiwi expat in the UK licking the Vegemite off life’s fingers”

That’ll do! Now to drop ‘em all a line…

  4. I was over on FB and checked on what you were up to: lo and behold, not only a well-deserved award but also a little surprise for me, too! I engage with several of the other recipients on your list, and will swing by and meet the others. It’s kind of like inviting your various friends over for coffee and saying ‘you know X and Y, I bet you’d enjoy Z, too’. Many thanks indeed :)
